When a Land Rover Sport owner contacted us, his vehicle could not start or even turn on the ignition. The smart key had completely failed — no remote locking, no proximity detection, and no immobilizer response. The car had to be towed to our shop for inspection.

Step 1: Diagnosing the Problem
Modern Land Rover vehicles use a Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) to communicate with the smart key. When this module malfunctions, the vehicle will not detect the key even if the battery inside the fob is good. In this case, both the remote and the transponder chip functions were inactive, leaving the car completely immobilized.
Using our advanced diagnostic equipment, we pinpointed the fault to the KVM unit — a common failure point in keyless Land Rover systems.
Step 2: Restoring the KVM
Instead of replacing the module, which can be very costly, we successfully restored the original KVM and re-synchronized it with the vehicle’s smart key system. After the repair, the customer’s existing key was fully functional again — able to lock, unlock, and start the car via push start as normal.
Step 3: Duplicating a Second Smart Fob
To prevent future inconvenience, we also duplicated a second smart fob for the customer. Having a working backup key is always important — not only for convenience, but also to avoid being stranded if the only key fails unexpectedly.
