Sometimes yes, sometimes no — here’s why accuracy matters more than guesswork.
At Soxxi Master, we often get messages with a photo of a key or lock asking:
- “Do you have this blank?”
- “Can you duplicate it?”
- “How much will it cost?”
We understand — sending a photo is quick and convenient. And in some cases, yes, a photo is enough for us to quote. But in many others, it isn’t. Our goal isn’t to make things difficult — it’s to make sure the quote we give reflects the true work involved and will result in a working duplicate.
When a Photo Is Enough
If your key is a known brand, model, or profile, we can often identify it from a photo. If we stock the blank, we can confirm and quote right away.
Sometimes, if your key has a code stamped on it and that series exists in our Silca electronic cutting machine, we can even provide a quote — or cut a duplicate — without needing the original key.
So yes, in some cases a photo is enough.
When a Photo Is Not Enough
Many keys look similar but are not the same. Even tiny differences in groove, profile, or thickness can make a blank unusable. From a photo alone, these details are often impossible to see.
That’s why we usually need to physically check the key against our blanks before quoting. For security keys, uncommon profiles, or imported locks, this step is essential.
Why We Don’t Give Blind Price Ranges
Some customers ask: “Just give me a rough estimate — is it $5 or $50?”
The problem is that guessing can create misunderstandings:
- Quote too low → key is special → feels misleading.
- Quote too high → key is common → feels like overcharging.
By checking the key first, we ensure the price we give is accurate and fair.
Why Visiting Us Saves Time
We understand it may seem inconvenient to come in just for a quote. But consider this:
- If we can quote, you get a reliable price immediately.
- If we can’t, at least you know for sure instead of wasting time guessing over messages.
Because we stock one of the widest ranges of blanks locally — and offer custom fabrication when no blank exists — most customers leave with a working key and a proper quote.
The Soxxi Master Difference
We’re not making things complicated. We’re making them accurate. Every quote we give is a real quote — not a guess. That way, you save time, avoid frustration, and know exactly what to expect.
